Meh. Those are pretty much my feelings about this book.
I got this because it was 99 cents and I wanted something breezy, steamy and fun. Apparently, my need for breeziness does not supersede my need for depth. And that was my main problem. For me, this book was as deep as a wading pool. Everything that could be potentially deep and soul searching is glossed over.
There’s nothing remarkable or different about this story. I didn’t feel connected to the characters at any given point. Their chemistry wasn’t so much experienced as explained by the author. Though, I will say that their office banter was totally cute. Everything else felt flat and bland.
I found myself caring more about the mystery than the main characters did. It was quickly solved in the end. Like “oops, here’s the culprit, here’s the reason, tied in a bow.” I just don’t like feeling that it was tacked on to provide an excuse for them to meet. It just wasn’t well developed for me.
