The Secret of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #1) - Jessica Sorensen

Unpopular opinion time!

I did not like this at all. Maybe Leah Raeder and Erin McCarthy have ruined me for all other NA out there. I was expecting something as engaging and steamy as Unteachable and the TRUE series. Did not get it here.

This book was boring, tedious and Ella is insufferable. I know she's gone through something awful but why on earth didn't she seek professional help? It bugs the crap out of me that she waited until the last moment to do so. Not only that she treats everyone like crap. AND she does not know how beautiful she is because you know, she just doesn't.

Also, I did not understand all the hate Lila got in the beginning. I found her to be super sweet and adjusting very well considering the circumstances.

Micha was a sweetheart but did you know that his eyes are AQUA? You didn't? Don't worry, you won't forget because we are reminded of it constantly throughout the book. I did like his relationship with his mother. Those brief snippets were adorable.

There was no visible plot to speak of. Unless 'Will Ella finally realize how idiotic she's being?' counts as plot.

Overall, The Secret of Ella and Micha is like biting into a cookie and then realize, to your horror, that it is stale. Disappointing.
