Searching for Someday - Jennifer Probst

Oy.

I did not like this one. Found myself skimming way too often.

All the characters seemed like caricatures. Every single one of them. Except Robert the dog.

Though the fact that the epilogue is written according to his perspective is so effin' weird. Like seriously? What the hell am I reading?

Slade (THAT NAME) acted like a complete douche canoe way too many times.

I mean, sleeps with Kate, dumps her the next morning, goes on a date with someone else, sleeps with Kate, dumps her again.

After the first time, I would've slapped him silly and told him to heave-ho. Kate had some serious self-esteem issues, in case that wasn't obvious. Honestly, it's the first time I read a romance novel where I am kind of hoping they don't end up together. He has his head up in his ass and she doesn't know the meaning of boundaries and self-respect. I dont' know. I felt like he just walked all over her and she just let him. Made me want to slap her.

The writing alternated between super clunky, filled with too many unnecessary details and super gross.

Example:

"Baby, I almost spilled my seed before I got inside of you."

There was also an entire CHAPTER dedicated to the set up of the story of one of Kate's many friends and much to my surprise, the second book in the series is not about her. Why all that build up then? Why fill the page with names of people that won't appear anymore and that I personally don't care about?

Meh.

I did enjoy the healthy female friendships though even those tethered a little too close to cliché.

Overall, Searching for Someday is like eating day old sushi. Never as good as you hope it will be.
