The Ice Queen - Alice Hoffman
The beginning was too sad for me. Depressive. Dark. Overpowering. I didn't connect to the main character immediately. I was slightly disturbed that she was never given a name and that her interactions with her lover weren't as developed as I had wanted. There was plenty of material to go on there. After getting through the first chapter (which is quite a feat because the main character is so depressed), the story becomes a "oh I want to know what happens next but not because I care abou the main character but because I NEED TO KNOW" type of story. I still can't quite put a finger on what captivated me exactly. It just did. Half of me wanted it to end differently though. Nonetheless, it was a fairly satisfying ending.
