Review

I started reading this book because I wanted something light and entertaining. I fell in love with the book cover when I saw it at the store (I know they say you shouldn't but I did so sue me). When I read the first two pages, the main character Rosemary, seemed to have a strong voice and a clear narration line. She is a girl who weighs 200 lbs. and is constantly pressured by the women in her life (mother, aunt) to lose weight. It seemed a fairly simple concept. However the more I read, the more confused I became. Too many things happening all at once in a single page. It's hard to focus your attention on some specific event. On top of that, the voice seemed to get more and more flat as the pages progressed. I couldn't connect with the heroine at all. She came off as extremely whiny and honestly... very annoying.I wanted to give it another chance and read until page 100. I really wanted to like this book. However it fell short.
