I tried. I barely got 4% in. Bored out of my mind.
It was too saccharine for me. No immediate conflict jumps up. Instead, we get a rundown of every character that will present itself in the next 7 to 8 books in the series (wait I just checked, this series has 14 BOOKS?! Hell to no).
Dude, if I don't engage with your hero how do you expect me to care about anyone else in his family?
