A very steamy contemporary romance. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I read it slowly with Dragon Age: Inquisition & the k-drama Heartless City distracting me on more than one occasion.
Maybe that's why I am having a hard time writing this review.
Time to break it down.
The cast
Cassie was a sweetheart. I loved her love of stars and her hardworking attitude. While I do not relate at all to her love of math, it was refreshing to see it on a novel.
Jack and I had a bit of a love/hate relationship. He introduced me to the term dyscalculia which I really think I might have to some lesser degree so I was all 'yay go Jack!'. However, he was really quick to think the worst of a situation. He was a commitment-phobe. He also came off twice as a jerk of the highest caliber. While I do appreciate a chiseled blond god, I couldn't find myself attracted to him. His personality didn't jump out and when it did, it was for all the wrong reasons.
The antagonist actually had layers. I wanted to see him go down and then I was like "aw, damn it man!" That was quite a welcomed change of pace for me.
The sex
Steamy, most definitely. Awkward phrases here and there did kick me out of the moment more often than not. I stepped away from the book a lot and I just noticed that most of the time, it was during a sex scene. Oh well.
The setting
Toronto. I've never been, but it's on my bucket list. I always get irrationally excited when I read romance novels set outside of the US.
Overall, an okay read.
